In Rakhine, the Arakan Army (AA) and the SAC military are under military tensions in Kyauktaw township since January 17, locals say.
“Till now, the SAC is still in Winsu village. Plus, they’re still taking a base at a Muslim clinic near that place. At Pi Chaung, the navy is deployed and they blocked all the waterways”, said a local villager to MPA.
The military tensions began between the Arakan Army (AA) and the coup SAC military yesterday near Pihtu village, in the north of Kyauktaw, Rakhine State and also due to the reinforcement of nearly 200 troops by the SAC, locals say.
“Maybe the military wants to apply a four-cut on the AA again. Or maybe they want to shoot arbitrarily onto villages faking wars. Nothing will happen if the military doesn’t advance”, said a Kyauktaw local resident.
Due to those military tensions, children and elders from nearby villages have escaped to Kyauktaw town in advance, said a Pihtu villager.
“It’s viewed both sides aren’t ready yet for a fight. I don’t know if the military wants to poke at the AA. If there are any advances from the military, there could be a clash”, a local expressed his opinion.
Even though the Arakan Army (AA) and the coup SAC military have stopped fights, the SAC is continuously carrying out arms and food supplies, arms testing and giving military training to family members.
“In recent days, a large navy carrying weapons of the military arrived to Sittwe. Today, around 12pm in the afternoon, a military helicopter flew from Sittwe to Buthidaung. We could say the military is preparing for a war”, said a Rakhine resident to MPA.
The commander-in-chief of the Arakan Army (AA), major general Tun Mrat Naing, said to international media that they wanted independence and between thirty thousand and fifty thousand military power was needed to regain the ancestral land.
While the coup military is facing the people’s resistance across the nation; due to its military preparations, military tensions are being faced again in Rakhine where fights were ceased.
