Amazon has officially launched its Prime Air drone delivery service, beginning in select U.S. cities.

The service aims to deliver packages weighing up to 5 pounds within 30 minutes of ordering. Utilizing advanced navigation systems and AI for obstacle avoidance, these drones are designed to operate safely in urban environments.

Amazon’s CEO, Andy Jassy, highlighted that Prime Air is a step towards faster and more efficient delivery solutions, reducing the company’s carbon footprint and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Initial rollouts will focus on specific neighborhoods, with plans to expand the service nationally and internationally in the coming years.
