While 5G networks are still expanding globally, 2024 has seen a ramp-up in research and early development of 6G technology, promising speeds up to 100 times faster than current 5G networks.
With data rates projected to reach terabits per second, 6G will enable groundbreaking applications such as holographic communication, real-time virtual reality, and enhanced Internet of Things (IoT) integration on a massive scale.
6G networks are expected to rely on ultra-high frequencies and advanced antenna technologies like terahertz waves to deliver improved connectivity, which would support data-heavy applications like AI, smart cities, and fully autonomous vehicles.
While 6G is still in its infancy and likely won’t be commercially available until the 2030s, the groundwork being laid now could usher in a new era of high-speed, intelligent connectivity.
