Avalanche has been selected by the Colombian government to build the country’s digital national ID system on its blockchain.
The system will use smart contracts to securely store and verify citizens’ identities, offering a more efficient and tamper-proof alternative to traditional ID systems.
The move is part of Colombia’s broader push to adopt blockchain technology for public services, including healthcare, voting, and financial services.
Avalanche’s high-performance network was chosen for its scalability and security, and the project is expected to serve as a blueprint for other countries exploring blockchain-based identity solutions.
